About Us
Welcome to Regina Pacis
Latin Mass Chaplaincy
Regina Pacis Chaplaincy was established by Bishop Ronald Gainer on Oct. 7, 2009, under the Catholic diocese of Lexington, Kentucky. The presence of the Traditional Latin Mass (also known as the "Tridentine Mass" or "Extraordinary Form") in the Lexington diocese goes back to 1985. The year 2010 thus saw the 25th anniversary of the Traditional Latin Mass in the Lexington diocese. For a detailed description of our history, please click here.
We warmly welcome all people to the Traditional Latin Mass, whether they be simply a visitor, a regular, or a registered member of the chaplaincy. Those who register may receive all the Sacraments through the chaplaincy that they would in a full-fledged parish, e.g., Baptism, Confirmation, First Holy Communion, Matrimony, etc. If you are unfamiliar with the Traditional Latin Mass, we hope that you will come on several occasions so that you find it soon becomes familiar and easy to follow. Bilingual booklets are available in Latin and English, as well as Latin and Spanish.
The chaplaincy is hosted with the kind hospitality of St. Peter Church, Fr. John List, Pastor, in downtown Lexington. Of course, we naturally aspire to have a place of our own someday, God willing.
The chaplain, Fr. John Rickert, FSSP, was ordained by Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz for the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter on May 22, 2010, and Regina Pacis is his first assignment. A native of central Kansas, Fr. Rickert lived in the Dallas, Texas, area before entering the seminary. While in Texas he taught mathematics at the college level for two years and worked as an analyst for a benefits consulting firm for six years.
